FleetBroadband is an IP based service providing global internet connectivity for email and data transfer to and from your yacht or vessel. The system is designed to support the legacy ISDN services typically provided by Fleet F77 allowing for a phased upgrade approach. FleetBroadband is based on the BGAN network using 3G standards to provide constant, simultaneous access to voice and broadband data services.
The BGAN service coverage is currently provided on Inmarsat’s latest I4 satellites positioned on the equator at 53 degrees West (AOR-W) and 64 degrees East (IOR). We understand that Inmarsat intends to launch the 3rd satellite to enable near global service provision at its first opportunity, which may be as early as 4th quarter 2007. The 3rd satellite will be positioned at 178 degrees East (POR) to provide coverage accross the Pacific Ocean. |
