Iridium

The Iridium system provides true global voice services with complete coverage of the earth (including oceans, airways and Polar Regions). The excellent signal strength provided by the Iridium constellation supports reliable connectivity. The satellite constellation and ground infrastructure provide complete redundancy to ensure uninterrupted service to customers.

The 66 active satellites are augmented by 13 orbiting spares, which can be activated as needed. The commercial gateway is in Tempe, Arizona, USA and the satellite network operations centre is in Leesburg, Virginia, USA. There are three telemetry, tracking and command centre sites at strategic locations around the world.

Iridium handsets are provided in both fixed and handheld forms and can be connected to a vessel PBX system.
